British League formed with the merger of National and Provincial Leagues. In 1991 the league became BL division one with the National League becoming BL division two. A Promotion and relegation system operated between the two leagues but this proved unworkable and was abandoned in 1993. In 1995 both leagues merged to form the Premier League.
Premier League formed with merger of British and National Leagues into one top division. A new top division was then formed when the top clubs formed the Elite League.
The Premier League then became the second level league competition. (see Premier League)
National League KO Cup 1968-1974 known as British League Division Two Knockout Cup then changed to National League Knockout Cup.
In 1990 reverted back to the British League Division Two Knockout Cup 1991-1994 and then as the Premier League
