The first season of the English Dirt Track League started with 15 clubs Belle Vue, Bolton, Burnley and Hanley would pull out of the league before the seasons end. The league lost Manchester White City after they had won all 18 matches which would have seen them crowned champions but a dispute led to them withdrawing and Leeds Lions were crowned champions with Preston in second place. This was the only year that the competition was known as the Englsih League the following season Scottish clubs Glasgow and Edinburgh joined so the League was renamed the Northern League. |
