Walthamstow Wolves 1949 |
The Walthamstow speedway first operated in 1934 when Lea Bridge were forced to find a new venue. The club was forced to move again after only a year due to noise complaints. They moved to Hackney Wick Stadium.
In 1949 Speedway returned to the track and the team joined the National League Division Two they struggled to attract good crowds they were situated between Division one clubs west Ham and Harringay which may have been a reason. The club finally closed in 1951 due to the declining attendances. The clubs last match was against the Monarchs on the 8th October 1951
