World Speedway Championships

World Championship 1936-1994
The World Championship was born in 1936 the Auto Cycle Union devised the idea of a World Championship and at the FCIM conference which was held in Madrid the idea was approved. This was not the first competition to be called the world Championship previous events had been run in Australia, Argentina and France these were short lived enterprizes and were never sancioned by the World's governing body.
