Westernapolis

In 1933 a West of England championship was held at Plymouth which was won by Jack Sharp. The following year Bristol held the competition which was won by Jack Milne. After the war Bristol's Fred Tuck was victorious at his home track. The competition then disappeared off the season calendar in 1957 Exeter hosted a competition for the Western trophy title which was won by Ove Fundin. The following year saw the West of England Championship return which was raced at St Austell and won by Jack Geran. The competition again was lost until 1966 when Geoff Mudge won at Exeter. 1967 saw the first year of the Westernapolis and the competition has run on and off since.
