Ove Fundin wins his record breaking 5th World Title ahead of Bengt Jansson and Ivan Mauger. Malmo was the venue for the World Team Cup and the host nation won the title beating Poland into second place and Great Britain in third place. Swindon won the British League with Coventry for the second year running in secondplace. The Bees had some consulation they won the KO Cup defeating West Ham in the final.
The London Cup was a mini league competition with west Ham, Wimbledon and Hackney with the Hammers the winners. Swindon were Midland Cup champions defeating Coventry in the final. The scottish Cup went to Edinburgh defeating Glasgow in both legs to record a 106-85 victory.
Andrzej Wyglenda won the European Final and the Continental Final titles. Ove Fundin won the Nordic Final and the British title.
Sweden were crowned World Champions in the final at Malmo with poland in scond place and Great Britain in third.
Old Meadowbank staged it's last meeting the stadium was to be demolished to make way for the new Commonwealth Games stadium.
