The Premier League Knockout Cup was originally known as the British League Division Two Knockout Cup 1968 to 1974 and then the National League Knockout Cup 1975 to 1990 it reverted back to the British League Division Two Knockout Cup 1991-1994 and became the Premier League Knockout Cup in 1995. The various names reflect the League competitions of the same name. The competition is a straight knock out held over two legs.
