report from The Journal
Skipper Carl Stonehewer led Workington to their first competitive win of the season. The Comets' captain, who had top-scored in defeat at Hull and Sheffield during the week, spearheaded the Comets' challenge. He won five of his six races and collected 17 points to lead the Comets' challenge. His only defeat was against Edinburgh's guest rider, Craig Voice, who was filling in for the absent Frede Schott. Edinburgh were twice successful with the new tactical ride which saw Voice and Rory Schlein collect double points to haul them back into the contest.
